Explorer's Study Group! (Meeting at the Church)
Tuesday Evenings,
Beginning Jan 5, 2021 6:30 pm

We will be exploring in depth the particulars of Reformed Theology. In this 6-week class, we will be exploring the core doctrine of the Reformation, the 5 Solas to see how they are not a unique invention by theologians in the 16th Century, but a return to what the Early Church taught. This course will show the historic view of the authority of scripture and the church, salvation, who Christ is, and living life to the Glory of God.  We will explore these themes all throughout:

  • The authority of scripture, the role of church and tradition, and how these differ in each denomination.
  • What faith is and what role it plays in the life of the Christian. One of the slogans of the Reformation is "...justification by faith alone...".
  • What grace truly is and why all of Salvation is based solely on God's grace and not works.
  • Is Jesus the only way for Salvation? Why should Christ matter to us?
  • How the Christian is to live their life to the Glory of God.

As R.C. Sproul said, "everyone's a theologian". As Christians, we should always seek to understand scripture and the doctrines it teaches. To paraphrase Bilbo Baggins, I look forward to our little adventure.
